MY GO-TO THOUGHT LEADERS FOR MIND-BODY INSPIRATION
There is a saying that “everyone and everything is our teacher.” There is also a saying that “you are your greatest teacher” — both of these ring true to me. Despite teaching, writing and sharing my thoughts on leading a holistic lifestyle and designing a life more in flow with your own nature, I always have a back catalogue of thought leaders who I can “virtually reach out to” when my energy feels low or disjointed. I can draw inspiration from their wise words and uplifting anecdotes that help to hold space for me to connect back to my own inner wisdom. Please meet five of my squad (two of whom have no idea they’re in my squad, but will hopefully accept this official friendship application!).
Gabby Bernstein is a self-described Spirit Junkie who has found solace in meditation and other spiritual practices that helped her find her true purpose. She is a motivational speaker, New York Times bestselling author, YouTuber, meditation guru and more. I met Gabby years ago when she was in London giving a talk at Hay House. She had everyone up, dancing, crying and getting in touch with their emotions and I managed to get backstage to chat with her. Years later, I’m enjoying her Instagram read-alongs from her latest book The Universe Has Your Back.

You’ve probably heard of Deepak. He’s a spiritual guru, speaker, author, podcaster and all-around inspiration. He’s also a philanthropist, founder of The Chopra Foundation, and community leader at The Chopra Center. I've listened to some of his online meditations for years… and years! This one still relaxes me straight away for a good night's sleep. I was lucky enough to host Deepak for a talk at my café Hemsley + Hemsley in Selfridges 4 years ago. He spoke about his book Super Genes (written with Rudy Tanzi) and I then attended his fascinating lecture that same week at the Royal Geographical Society.

BRENÉ BROWN
You’ve most likely seen Brené’s TED Talk or Netflix special all about how leaning into vulnerability enhances our lives, but did you know she’s also a bestselling author, podcaster, blogger and all the rest? She’s a research professor in Texas specialising in courage, vulnerability, shame, and empathy, and continues to inspire me alongside thousands of people around the world. I’ve not met her but feel like she combines a nurturing tone with the big shake-up that most of us need when it comes to valuing ourselves.
