ANTI-RACISM & RAISING BLACK VOICES
“In a racist society it is not enough to be non-racist, we must be anti-racist.” - Angela Y. Davis
Black Lives Matter. This isn’t my personal struggle, but it is my problem. If we continue to let it happen on our doorstep, we are contributing to racism, and we are complicit in racism. I am educating myself further and I’m sharing resources from those who know much more than me...
I know that I have nothing profound to add to the conversation, I also know that I want to be part of it in order to acknowledge and confront racism in all its forms including challenging the systems that allow it to prevail. I know that for those with privilege, it is our duty to share, to not remain neutral.
“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.” -Martin Luther King Jr.
Let’s use this opportunity to put right what is wrong. Let us use this collective awareness to stand together and root out these injustices and stamp out systemic racism and anti-blackness again and again until it is gone. As humans this is our duty.
I am sharing resources below from people that I trust and follow, including Munroe Bergdorf and Venetia La Manna. Please comment on my Instagram post here with any other helpful resources, information or accounts to follow to educate and create systematic change.
