ANNOUNCEMENT: MY COLLECTION WITH NEEDLE & THREAD
Big announcement!! I’ve been waiting a long time to say this and it’s finally happening. I’ve collaborated with one of my favourite British brands, Needle & Thread, on a beautiful collection! I‘ve always been a fan — their intricately detailed dresses are works of art and their brand values really resonate with me, so working with them on a truly authentic partnership is a dream come true. This Jasmine Hemsley x Needle & Thread elemental collection is a project I’ve been working on behind the scenes for almost a year now, and FINALLY it’s arrived and I can show off the pieces, which are available to purchase now at needleandthread.com.
This 23-piece collection draws on my personal inspirations: the pieces draw from my inspirations, the five universal elements and the chakras recognised by the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda, the beauty of nature, flowers, the constellations seen in the night sky and the kingfisher — a nod to my favourite bird for which I shared a love with my dad who passed 5 years ago. This collection embodies living “La Vida Veda,” with key pieces embroidered with this mantra.
Importantly, the collection is responsibly sourced, featuring rainbow-coloured iridescent sequins made from upcycled plastic and recycled fabrics. Everything has been manufactured in Needle & Thread’s established supply chain, one which the brand has nurtured for years and which supports Needle & Threads ambitions to create more sustainable products. This collaboration is the first (big) step for Needle & Thread as part of the brand’s wider sustainability development strategy.
Just as exciting is that Needle & Thread has been awarded the Butterfly Mark by Positive Luxury for a company-wide commitment to sustainability. Positive Luxury connects mindful luxury brands with a global audience of consumers who care, offering transparency at points of sale and equipping consumers to make more informed purchasing decisions. What’s more, the collection supports the charity Women for Women International, for which I’m an ambassador, with donations helping women survivors of war rebuild their lives. The donation is enough to help 200 women learn tailoring as part of the charity’s year-long training programme.
