SUMMER SOLSTICE CLEANSE + RESET FT. A SPECIAL SUMMER SOUND BATH
The summer solstice, on 21st June in just a week, is a beautifully symbolic day. It’s the longest day of the year, the official start of summer and also the time to get on with one of my five annual Cleanse + Resets (more on that below). I hope you’ll join me again this time around in taking three blissful days to slow down and live more consciously, eating supportive, delicious and nourishing meals, being in nature, gently moving our bodies, meditating.
To accompany this time of rest and relaxation, I’ve recorded a new 20-minute sound bath for summer, designed to help you balance the heat of summer and all the excitement it brings. Like the popular Spring Equinox sound bath before it, this virtual sound bath is available to purchase here to be enjoyed in your own time and as often as you’d like before 30th September.
Summer in Ayurveda is Pitta season — where the element of fire predominates with water a close second. All that incoming sunshine, the longer days and shorter nights, naturally puts a smile on our face. The transformational power of fire is such that it can make us feel bright and illuminated. A regular meditation practice helps us not only head into this new season already feeling more positive and happy, but also helps to keep us feeling calm and in control of our thoughts and emotions. This is important at a time when we might easily get overly hot and bothered in an environment that is heating up and taking us with it. Common Pitta imbalances include, anger and irritability, inflammation and sensitivity of the skin, heartburn and loose stools so the mantra for this season is “Breathe and Chill Out.”
Try this sound bath in the morning, to take a break from the heat of the day, or last thing at night, making time for yourself to sit, breathe and be present in the moment. Come back to this sound bath regularly this season, if not daily, to keep the calm, create space to breathe, and chill out physically, mentally and spiritually. This can be one of your practices to naturally keep the delicate balance within mind-body-spirit that helps us to thrive.
