JASMINE HEMSLEY X HARI'S TREATMENT MENU
Have you heard? I’ve launched a collaboration with London hair salon HARI’s, with four amazing Ayurveda-inspired treatments to choose from. Here’s a closer look at what exactly each treatment looks like. If you like what you see, you can book through this link.
GENTLE DEEP CLEANSE CHĀMPO
To gently cleanse hair of product build-up and pollutants
Commercial hair products and environmental pollution can lead to a build-up on the hair leaving it heavy, lifeless and dull. The Western word “shampoo” originates from the Hindu word chāmpo, and this treatment gently exfoliates to reveal refreshed and renewed hair and scalp. Besan (aka chickpea flour) is included for its cleansing and protein-boosting properties, as well as Reetha (AKA soap nut) to treat any sensitive hair and scalp concerns. After the double cleanse, the hair is nourished with a Neem and Tulsi (aka Holy Basil) mask to further purify. The hair and scalp are then treated to an orange honey bath to attract moisture and seal the hair’s cuticle.
HAIR NUT MILK BATH & MASK
To revive hair and counteract any overexposure to the sun
In Ayurveda, we look at the properties of ingredients and how they can be used to bring balance. For hair exposed to sun, heat and any extremes in environment including pollution and excessive heat within the body, we counter this with a cleansing, cooling treatment that restores and reconditions. The nourishing and cooling combination of aloe vera and coconut is used to bathe the hair before it is treated with a shampoo and mask which focus on the key ingredients; Kachur Sugandhi (aka Resurrection Lily) understood to deliver natural UV protection and hibiscus flower, which acts as a hydrating natural conditioner in this special treatment.
KING OF HAIR RESET
To remedy limp, lifeless hair and promote vitality and growth
In honour of the renowned herb Bhringraj, known in Ayurveda as “King of Hair,” this treatment celebrates its rejuvenating properties. Antibacterial and antifungal Bhringraj, from the sunflower family, is said to strengthen hair, promote growth and prevent graying. When teamed with Rosemary and Amla (Indian gooseberry), another Ayurvedic superfood, this combination boosts circulation and brings life back into the hair. Brahmi and Black Seeds are used to purify the scalp and help treat any issues such as acne and dandruff.
DOSHA BALANCING OIL RITUAL
To relax, rebalance and soothe the mind-body
Hair oiling and oil massage are key practices in Ayurveda and its native country India. This treatment uses dosha specific herbal oil blends to promote balance, as well as nourish the hair and scalp with the natural power of plant oils. Post-massage, the hair is cleansed with a double-shampoo using a blend of Shikakai, Neem and Besan, again tailored to your dosha with essential oils. Shikakai is used to nourish the hair and encourage faster growth whilst Neem cleanses and purifies the scalp. To finish, a lemon honey bath balances the pH and seals the hair cuticle to leave hair feeling fresh and shiny.
THE SIGNATURE JASMINE HEMSLEY MASSAGE
All treatments incorporate the signature Jasmine Hemsley massage developed especially for this menu. This massage incorporates two Ayurvedic traditions: Indian Head Massage and the use of a Kansa Wand to stimulate and relax the scalp. The Kansa Wand, better known for its use in face massage, is designed to direct life-force energy to open marma points (Ayurvedic vitality points on the body) and is effective in providing a tension-release treatment for the head and scalp. The smooth surface of the Kansa wand is made from ‘kansa’ metal (aka bronze - a copper tin alloy) and is claimed to be more healing than gold or silver in vedic wisdom. It warms quickly and it’s rounded shape helps to relieve tension build-up in the head, neck and shoulders. A comb made from traditional Neem wood, known as ‘the wonder tree’ in Ayurveda, is also used to gently stimulate the scalp.
