CLEANSE + RESET FOR AUTUMN 2019

As we all feel the transition from summer to autumn and with the autumn equinox on Monday 23 September, any time now is a good time to give your body a break with a 3-day Cleanse + Reset (or even 2— anything will help). Get yourself ready for this weekend or the next or even mid-week depending on your schedule. In Ayurveda, resetting our mind-body is crucial as the season changes, to help ease us into what autumn brings: the cold, light, fast, mobile and dry qualities of Vata, wind, rain, dropping temperatures, heightened stress and a go-go-go attitude. Excess Vata can be anxiety-inducing, so we want to take care of ourselves in order to keep a sense of balance and grounding.

Under stress we become vulnerable to catching colds and other pesky illnesses — which in Ayurveda are a sign of imbalance that we can help to prevent and, using the tools of Ayurveda, help to manage and rebalance if we take the hit. If you do find yourself getting the sniffles, or having a sore throat, try some remedies from East by West: the honey and onion cough syrup on page 248 and the respiratory remedy on page 253.

And in the meantime, I encourage you to consider a nurturing 3-day Cleanse + Reset to ease you into the change in seasons. If you’re a subscriber, you’ll find the link to the programme in your welcome email — if not, you can subscribe to my newsletter to receive it. To tailor the plan specifically to the transition into autumn, check out this post for a shopping list and some season-specific modifications.
