CLEANSE + RESET FOR 2020!
It’s that time of year again — time for me to get on with one of the 5 official Cleanse + Resets that I earmark in the calendar for the year: 4 for each change in season and this extra one because I usually need something to help me get over the end of year climax, the Christmas parties and the New Year excess! Plus, how lovely to start the New Year from base camp with a bit of slow, after all that rush, a bit of “being” rather than “doing” and with some time and space to reflect on the coming year. Sound a bit beardy weirdy? Basically I’m just scheduling in some time out! 😂
Welcome back to those of you who’ve done this 3-day plan before or already make it a regular part of your life — and for those new to it, hello and make sure you get your free Cleanse + Reset plan by signing up to my newsletter. In a nutshell, the plan is a gentle, nurturing Ayurvedic detox — a far cry from calorie-counting, juice cleanses or raw fasts — made up of four simple recipes to alternate as you please over three days, plus loads of lifestyle tips for finding a greater sense of balance in your mind, body and spirit. It’s a time of rest, of unplugging, of being kind to yourself.
The “core” recipe for the plan is the good ‘ol kitchari, which you can flavour with a multitude of spices and herbs and bulk out with whatever veg is in your veg box, in the fridge or inspires you at the shop. If you’re feeling creative, then by all means, make it your own! But if you’re not feeling like going back to the drawing board quite yet (or shall I say the chopping board???), see below for two lovely variations.
Tara Stiles yoga offer
I’ll also be combining my New Year’s Cleanse + Reset with a slow flow yoga session each morning. I love this Yoga to Wake Up and Get Going class hosted by my friend Tara Stiles of Strala Yoga based in NY. I’ve been practising Tara’s online (and, when I can, in-person!) classes for years and she’s my go-to for juicy, free flowing and relaxed yoga workouts that help you feel into your body rather than focusing on perfect form or holding poses. Tara is offering a 50% discount on all online classes, workshops and retreats until 3 January when you use the code RELAX at checkout. Tara has also just launched her How to Practice at Home: Retreat with Tara course for those who want to dive in a little further.
