CELEBRATE PANCAKE DAY WITH EAST BY WEST
Happy Pancake Day! I'm as partial to a tasty pancake as the next girl, so my book East by West has some perfect recipes for you to celebrate the occasion. If you have the book, check out the recipes below. If you don't, here's my chestnut crêpes recipe as a little early Valentine's day present from me to you! And if you love that one, there are plenty more where that came from!
Chestnut crêpes with vanilla chai plum compote
(pages 74-75)
These buttery crêpes with tart compote are the most fragrant combo! They are great to appease a sweet tooth with all gentle, Ayurvedic ingredients.
Teff pinwheels with apricot tahini and cardamom cream
(pages 96-97)
These lovely pinwheels are a spin (pun intended) on the classic peanut butter and jelly sandwich, but more interesting and much more nutritious! They make a perfect snack for the whole family.
Breakfast dosas
(pages 80-81)
These light and crisp traditional Indian crêpes are a dream, and are so versatile! Try them with some of the pickles or compotes from my book — the vanilla chai plum compote works perfectly.
Teff waffles with turmeric and honey drizzle
(pages 78-79)
These waffles were inspired by a New York café that serves teff waffles with ghee. They were so delicious I just had to reproduce them at home!
I love the honey and turmeric drizzle — just make sure to balance the ingredients according to the doshas. More about this in East by West!
