MY EDIT OF ECO EARRINGS
I've always loved a good earring — both simple and statement — as part of a dressy outfit. They are also the ideal accessory to your tracksuit bottoms when all anybody is seeing is the top half of your body on a video call! Like with everything else in my wardrobe and jewellery box, I look for sustainable options wherever possible — as well as picking pieces up from carboot sales, vintage shops and second-hand websites. Here I’ve selected some beautiful pairs from unique shops and makers with planet- and people-friendly production at their heart.
Wolf & Moon is a handcrafted jewellery label by British designer Hannah Davis, taking its inspirations from nature, architecture, art and design. All the brand’s jewellery is lovingly handmade in its London studio by a small team of passionate makers with everyone paid above the London Living Wage. The studio is run completely on renewable energy and the brand works directly with Ecolgi to offset its carbon emissions and plant a tree for every purchase. Wolf & Moon also offer a lifetime repairs service. These Margot earrings are made using FSC certified wood and sterling silver.
Margaux Studios is a romantic new jewellery and accessories brand from British designer Abigayil Swann, launched in 2020. The brand offers a completely handmade and made-to-order service.
Atteya jewellery is handmade or cast in 100% Recycled Precious Metals. Each Atteya order is placed in a reusable branded eco box made from FSC certified card and protected in an organic cotton bag. The brand’s eco packaging is then finished with biodegradable ribbon made from banana leaf fibres and placed amongst recycled paper within an eco parcel box.
Chalk is a London based design studio run by architect Malaika. Using her passion for beautifully crafted designs in all its forms, Malaika designs and handmakes each piece. The Mandala Earrings are a personal favourite and are inspired by the stunningly decorated homes of the Ndebele Tribe. The ornate earrings are made from walnut, acrylic and formica.
These simple sterling silver and brass earrings are perfect for any understated jewellery lover. They are ethically made and hand-finished in Devon, and will last a lifetime when properly cared for.
These delicate hoops are handmade by designer Josefina using eco recycled silver in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter. They are packaged without any plastic and using 100% recycled and recyclable materials. They are vegan-friendly too.
