CREATURE OF COMFORT, FROM SETTEE TO CITY, FROM SOFA TO NOT SO FAR
We’re all being asked to stay inside but we still need to go out from time to time. When we do go out we’re probably not dressing up for the occasion — in fact we’re likely looking a bit ‘morning after the night’ before since we’re only nipping out for a quick shop, to run an errand for a neighbour or family member, to check on a premises or to walk the dog - and who’s looking anyway? And then there’s the need for nature - nature is calling us, nature will save us from cabin fever. Fresh air and daylight is vital so at every opportunity we need to get out and get some fresh air - and we might as well look the rugged part.
Here’s variations on what you’ll find me in for the last days of Winter and well into Spring:
Cosy jacket .. cos cosy
Natural material leggings so that my skin can breathe
A big ‘ol Mary Poppings bag to carry everything I could possibly need - read; water flask, hand sanitiser, big sign that says ‘keep it 2 metres folks!’
A beanie to keep the warmth in and the wind out
Shoes that can get muddy and don’t slip on the damp grit
Riley Studio is on a constant journey towards being as sustainably as possible - the brand uses recycled materials and works directly with ethical partners, with a constant commitment to doing things the right way, not the easy way. Pieces are created to be durable and versatile, to stand the test of time. This co-ord set is cut from the Q-NOVA® by Fulgar recycled fibre, and made exclusively from regenerated waste materials.
With sustainability front of mind, NAGNATA set out to create its most eco-friendly collection to date, choosing to work with Australian Merino wool to develop an original seamless knitwear collection designed for yoga, Pilates, cycling, dance, cardio exercise and studio-to-street style. Designed with minimal seams and a high content of natural fibres, the collection blends superfine Australian Merino wool with Tencel for breathability, sustainability and an extremely soft hand feel. The designers drew inspiration from traditional men’s wool suiting fabrications creating a houndstooth knit jacquard pattern, combined with the brand’s signature colour-blocking and retro-sports design details.
Sheep Inc. was set-up to show that there is a better way of doing fashion — where the clothes you buy can be part of the solution and not part of the problem. The brand is incredibly 10x carbon-negative — thanks to full working across the sustainability of its supply chain from sheep stations who use regenerative farming methods or their Italian yarn mill running on renewable energy.
British brand Finisterre has collaborated with Vans to create their most sustainable shoe to date using recycled materials throughout. The hardy and weatherproof shoe has been designed with surf in mind but in reality, is perfect for muddy dog walks too!
State of Escape was founded with the vision to create something simple, functional and beautiful. The ultimate hard-working, no-fuss carryall tote bag. The brand is produced in its homeland, Australia allowing its design team to work closely with manufacturers, ensuring each bag leaves the factory in impeccable condition — ready for its new home.
